Maestro Francisco Royo Ribera

Founder of Association and School Wa Rei Ryû

Francisco Royo is the founder of the Wa Rei Ryû Association, a kenjutsu school approved by the Budokan in Japan, and with more than 30 years of experience.

Master Royo began his experience in martial arts back in 1972, practicing karate in the style of Ken Kyukai. After this, he began to diversify into other martial arts styles such as Judo and Kendo, and began the Aikiken-jutsu at the hands of Master of Aikido, Salvador Chaves. In 1992, he traveled to Japan at the invitation of Morito Miyawaka to start the Ichi Nitten Ryû movement.

In 1986, he began the Rei Group in collaboration with similar fencing fans, which slowly led to the Wa Rei Ryû Association-School.

Beyond teaching martial arts, those who follow Master Royo are committed to the dissemination of the Japanese culture and tradition by organizing various activities and events.

Noteworthy amongst these is the laying of a wreath in Montserrat in honour of the Tenshô and Keichô Embassies, and saw the participation of the Honourable Consul of Japan in Barcelona, Naohito Watanabe, and Professor Ferrer I Casals.
